Hotfix 2.0.2 available.

Fixed tooltips getting cut off. If you installed my ElixirAnticheat mod/bugfix, then please update to the latest version of ElixirAnticheat to ensure the tooltip changes are in sync.

Sorry about the trading panel check marks disappearing after you bought something.

Panel Tweaks: Better Sorting, Filters, Tooltips, and Alchemy

(That title was too long for the site.)There are no gameplay or balance changes. This is simply a UI modification.

Now at version 2.0.2 for game patch v1.3.

Note: if you want to disable bulk alchemy crafting, install both supplied dzip files, MOD_PanelTweaks.dzip and MOD_PanelTweaks_ConfigDisableBulkAlchemy.dzip. The smaller config dzip file just turns it off - in fact it's practically empty and is only used by the mod to detect the filename of its contained contents, which itself is practically empty.

For further UI improvements, see my HUD Tweaks mod.

Latest Changes:

As of v2.0.1 - v2.0.2

  • Mod bugfix: fixed tooltips getting cut off. Reported by ninotoreS.
  • Mod bugfix: check marks didn't update after you bought an item. Sorry about that. Reported by arc1977.

As of v2.0

  • Updated for game patch v1.3.
  • Dropped the mod's junk filter in favor of the one introduced in game patch v1.3. They should be functionally equivalent anyway.
  • Changed the text for the inventory pocket item counter introduced in game patch v1.3. Made it as it was in this mod's previous
version with smaller, white text in the bottom right corner.
  • Fixed the bulk alchemy introduced in game patch v1.3. It had a major bug that would waste ingredients en masse when crafting
thunderbolt potions when using the same ingredient in two slots. This includes the fix in the previous mod version for the non-bulk crafting of thunderbolt potions when you only have one Quebrith left and it gets put in both slots: the game will no longer waste the ingredient although making the UI more intuitive would require further work.

See the changelog

for the previous versions' changes.

What it Does:

There are currently seven main changes. The junk filter in the mod's previous versions has been dropped in favorof the one introduced in game patch v1.3. For the forseeable future anyway.

1) Adds sorting buttons to the inventory and trading panel. By default items are sorted alphabetically in ascending order.

You can sort:
1a) Alphabetically. ICON: Glagolitic letter "buky".
1b) Time acquired. ICON: Hourglass.
1c) By AGGREGATE item weight. ICON: Weight.
1d) By AGGREGATE price. ICON: Oren.

Time acquired is pretty loosely defined as just the order they were in before they were sorted. So far it seems to
be that the game initially orders the lists according to when you acquired an item. If you already have some quantity
of a newly acquired item, the "time acquired" won't update because basically the item already in the list just
gets one more quantity. I just mention this so you don't wonder where the item you just bought may have gone if
sorted by time acquired.

If using a mouse, click the selected button again to change the ordering. See below if using a gamepad. The color of
the button will change to show you the current order.

Sorting by name should take localization rules into account. If it doesn't please let me know, but I specified to sort
them with that option.

<<< ATTENTION GAMEPAD USERS >>>
Use the right trigger to cycle through the next sorting button. Use the left trigger to invert the sorting order.
If you've remapped your input, then try whatever you've remapped it to or reset it.

2) When trading, adds a check mark next to a book, formula, or crafting diagram if you already have it in your possession.
Note that you stil shouldn't sell it if you want to create something with it. This just lets you avoid buying what
you already have.

3) Makes the alchemy panel less tedious.
3a) Unrotates the alchemy ingredient icons so you can quickly match them against the ingredient filter. It wouldn't have
been so bad if some of the colors hadn't been harder to distinguish.
b) Attempts to select better default ingredients. Uses cheaper, more common (vs. magical etc), lighter, and abundant ingredients
first. Items marked as quest items are last to be selected.
c) Saves your custom ingredient selection when you create a potion, oil, or bomb until you select another recipe or
exit the alchemy menu.
d) Puts a count label on each ingredient used in a recipe so you know how much is left.
e) Sorts the formulae alphabetically.
f) Overhauls the bulk alchemy crafting introduced in game patch v1.3 with this mod's previous version in most parts.
The unmodded version had a bug when it came to forumulae using multiples of the same ingredient. Only thunderbolt
required 2x Quebrith, but it was still a major problem as it wasted alchemy ingredients en masse. The previous version
allowed you to disable bulk alchemy crafting in case the amount popup was more of an annoyance than help. This mod version
allows that as well. See in the install instructions for details.

4) Merges in my better tooltips mod and fixes some previous issues where text could get cut off about about 9 pixels in the
trading menu. Makes tooltips 80% taller, start scrolling almost immediately (if they must), and waits five seconds
before restarting the scroller. If you want the other customized variants, you can probably use those and this mod.

5) Crafting panel changes.
5a) Sorts the diagrams and items alphabetically.
5b) When you've selected a recipe, its component slot shows you how much of a crafting component you have left in total,
instead of how capping it at what the recipe requires. In other words, it's more like the inventory tooltip.

6) Changed the text for the inventory pocket item counter introduced in game patch v1.3. Made it as it was in this mod's previous
version with smaller, white text in the bottom right corner.

7) Sorts the potions to drink alphabetically.

How to Install:

Copy the file "MOD_PanelTweaks.dzip" into the "CookedPC" folder of your "The Witcher 2" base game folder. There's nothingfurther to unzip - you're done. It won't overwrite any original file, since the original is in the pack0.dziparchive.If you wish to disable bulk alchemy crafting, install the following dzip file in addition to MOD_PanelTweaks.dzip:MOD_PanelTweaks_ConfigDisableBulkAlchemy.dzip.How to Uninstall:

Delete the file "The Witcher 2CookedPCMOD_PanelTweaks.dzip".If you wish to restore bulk alchemy crafting, delete the file MOD_PanelTweaks_ConfigDisableBulkAlchemy.dzip.Future Plans:

We'll see. Also I've noticed an interesting thing in the unmodded game: your inventory in the trading list is scrolled down by one item at the beginning. I never really noticed that until I sorted things alphabetically. It might be possible for me to fix it if I see what's causing it. Not my bug though.Additional credits/thanks:

User stormclaw on the GOG forums has a pretty well fleshed out list of issues with the UI panels. While some of them areissues that'd hit you in the face after five minutes of playing the game, it serves as a pretty good checklist.http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/complete_list_of_inventory_ui_problems/page1Thanks to Rick (gibbed) who made the tools to unpack and repack dzip archives. And especially thanks to CD Projekt RED for making the game and the interface, which made this mod possible in the first place.I drew the icons for the check marks, letter "buky", and the hourglass myself. The cleaned up weight and orens icons are by Nexus user "sirRoben", given to me to include in the mod. Not part of any other projectas far as I'm aware. In versions of the mod prior to v2.0, for translations of the word "Miscellaneous" in the junk filter: Russian translation by Nexus user "Go0lden_Archer".
