Note:
===============
This hasn't been extensively tested yet. Seems to work. But at worst, even though the cross may not point north, you'll be able to use it as a reference point to the main map. I haven't seen it not point north yet, but you never know. All I know is how much your minimap got rotated by - I can't deal directly in north, south, east, or even west.
What it Does:
===============
It's a minimap pointer. It rotates a small cross around your minimap's circumference and underneath other parts of the UI, so you have a reference to the main map. I can't guarantee it will always point north in the game world, but it should be consistent with the main map and give you a point of reference.
How to Install:
===============
Copy the folder "CookedPC" into your "The Witcher 2" base game folder.
It won't overwrite any original file, since the original is in the pack0.dzip archive.
How to Uninstall:
===============
Delete the file "The Witcher 2/CookedPC/globals/gui/hud.swf"
How to Make Sure of Your Direction:
===============
The cross will probably keep pointing north in the game. If not, don't worry:
1) Rotate the camera so the cross is at the top of the minimap.
2) Make Geralt face in the same direction as the cross.
3) Press M to see the main map and which way Geralt is facing on the map.
4) Now you know which way the cross is pointing on that map, hopefully north. Rejoice. If not, well, at least you shouldn't have to orient yourself against the main map as often now.
