I got two of these beasts in my rig and their performance is amazing. Every one agrees they are simply the best hard drives out there.
Oh and you have some good taste in games there, I'm looking towards getting my hands on New Vegas too :)
Oh you KNOW it! I actually only have 700 bucks to spend on my upgrade (I get one every year with my income tax return) so I have the components already set up with my computer guys, UNLESS some of the prices go down. I have a 250 gig I use now but that will be used as my in-computer storage drive and I'll be getting a 500 gig along with my new processor (quad core), video card (would like to get a little better than what we have picked out), etc. I'm also going to upgrde to windows 7 which MIGHT change if I can't come up with enough money. I had to spend some of my income tax return on my son this year and it's been a real bitch trying to get enough back for the upgrade, normally I have it done by now!

for the price difference you might as well get the F3, It's the cheapest 1tb drive around, you could probably find one for less than one hundred. They only cost $130 over here in NZ. I don't mean to be rude but unless the 500GB is like 50 bucks or less there's no good reason to pick it over a 1tb drive with the current prices. I build computers and if you are serious about getting good performance out of your game then the HDD you choose can make a big difference. most 500Gb drives have have smaller buffers and that means longer load times.
- One other piece of friendly advice whatever drive you have picked out make sure it's not a seagate. they are notorious for dying horribly, worst HDD's on the market.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots.

Oh no, I just bought a Seagate 500GB Barracuda Sata 2. I've heard mixed reviews on them.
Seagate used to have a reputation for producing good drives, it sounds like that is on the decline. I wish I had bought a 1GB drive now thinking about it, but at the time I didn't have the spare money.
Please remember to comment, it helps to encourage modders with their work.

some of the older drives are ok, but the latest models have cheap parts, the main problem is the motor seizing, if you start hearing clicking sounds you got between thirty minutes and thirty days to get you data off before its gone for good, unless you wanta spent a crap ton of money getting the platters extracted and copied separately. Had it happen to a friend of mine, he was not impressed.
I'll start a thread in general support for hardware questions, I'm a pretty good at hardware. probility should let this thread get back on topic
