Dragon Age 3 Announced
BioWare officially announced the existence of Dragon Age 3 today as executive producer Mark Darrah revealed the game in a blog post on the Dragon Age website. As you would expect with an initial announcement, very little information about the game was actually revealed but apparently the game has been in the works for the past two years.
"I am pleased to confirm that we are, in fact, working on the next Dragon Age game. Not a big surprise to most of you, I know," Mark wrote on the blog. "We have been working on it in some way for about two years now with the bulk of our efforts ramping up about 18 months ago."
Mark did not want to comment about the story at all other than giving the title of the game which is Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
Dragon Age III: Inquisition is being made by many of the same developers who have been working on the Dragon Age franchise since Dragon Age: Origins. Many fans loved Origins and it got amazing reviews from critics when it was released in 2009. Dragon Age II, however, was a bit of a different story. While the 2011 title still received generally good critic reviews, users were much harsher. Dragon Age II currently has a mere 4.3 user score (out of 10) on Metacritic.
Fans who didn't like the second game don't need to worry about the third being a repeat of the same mistakes. Apparently, fan feedback has been taken into consideration during development of the upcoming game.
"Part of that effort has involved you, our fans, and the feedback you´ve provided for Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, and their DLC. We´ve visited message boards, read reviews, and we´ve gone to events to have direct face to face conversations with some of our most passionate fans. We´ve been listening, and we will continue to listen," Mark wrote.
It was also revealed that BioWare is making a whole new engine for the game, using EA's Frostbite 2 engine as a foundation. Could this mean that Dragon Age III: Inquisition will actually look better than Frostbite 2? This game already sounds awesome.
