What's the most important element of a great game?

not just fun but 'lasting' fun. I've played some games that boast 100+ hours but after 20 or so, things just seem to be trucking along pretty much the same.

Personally, I say innovation is the most important. Groundbreaking (IMO) features of Half life 2 like the Grav Gun kept me playing it for a whole year non-stop for like a couple of hours daily. Oblivion is the first true RPG I every played and it kept me occupied for two whole years :shock:

! The sheer number of mods for both of these games only increased the amount of time I spent consistently playing these two games.

i say realism, like i like a game what is real, like i dont like games what do not make sence, so games what obey the laws of physics are really good i think anyways...

Gotta say innovative design. Usually something innovated is an attempt at higher realism in the FPS genera, so there ya go.
