1) Special thanks
______________________________________________________

I would like to give special thanks to Guus of the =arc= clan, for bringing to my attention the
problem \"Ultimate Mappack 1\" had with the \"FK1099 v1.2 server side mod\", and also for helping me
test the fix to this problem. It was because of his help that prompted me to start work on this
mappack.

I would like to give special thanks to HHO of www.avp2maps.com, for helping test this mappack,
also hosting this mappack and the occasional helpful suggestions, and honestly without him none
of this would have been possible.

I would like to give a special thanks to x-M-x of www.avp2files.com for helping to post news
about this mappack, also helping to find more custom maps that could be added, and also for
hosting this mappack.

And of course, I would like to give a special thanks to all the mappers that have made maps in
this mappack, but I did give them their own section in this text.
(the \"A tribute to all the mappers\" section)

2) System requirements
______________________________________________________

3.18 GB (3256 MB) free hard drive space.

I recommend 512 MB of (memory) RAM, or more. (some maps require this)

I recommend a 64 MB video card, or better. (some maps require this)

Make sure you have the current version of \"Aliens Versus Predator 2\". Version 1.0.9.6

You\'ll need \"WinRAR\" to extract the mappack out of the .rar compression file.

3) What \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" contains
______________________________________________________

Please note that I did not make any of the maps in \"Ultimate mappack 2\". I just took all the maps
I was able to get, and combined them into one big mappack.

\"Ultimate Mappack 2\" contains almost every custom map made for \"Aliens vs. Predator 2\", from the
birth of \"Aliens vs, Predator 2\" to mid April 2006.

-----------------------------------------------------------
All the mappacks listed below have been incorporated into this mappack, thereby
making these mappacks not necessary if \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" is installed.

Please note, \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" contains \"official multiplayer map update 1\". This was done so
that if anyone reinstalls the game, or gets it for the first time, will not have to download this
file especially if not aware of this update pack. If it is already installed, you don\'t need to
uninstall it, there should be no confliction problems. This was done to make \"Ultimate Mappack 2\"
considerabily to be the best mappack available for \"Aliens vs. Predator 2\".

Believe it or not, this mappack doesn\'t have every map, in fact there are almost 100 maps or so
that were considered to be unplayable or obsolete. By this I mean maps that had missing textures,
screwed up spawn points, unfinished versions, older versions of maps, maps that were too laggy,
and in certain cases maps that were too big. I did this to try and keep the mappack size as small
as possible but still containing as many playable maps as I could.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Here\'s a list of how many custom maps are in each category
--------------------------------------------------------------

SINGLE PLAYER --------- 9 maps

DEATHMATCH ------------ 356 maps

TEAM DEATHMATCH ------- 365 maps

HUNT ------------------ 356 maps

SURVIVOR -------------- 356 maps

OVERRUN --------------- 17 maps

EVAC ------------------ 32 maps

5) Recommended multiplayer maps
______________________________________________________

Being that there are so many maps, there is a large varible of different kinds of maps. Meaning,
if you prefer large or small maps, maps that have open spaces or closed spaces, well lit maps or
dark maps, maps that have muliple levels or just one, maps that have lots of ammo floating around
or ones that have practically none. As you can see, there are a lot of variables and since each
person likes different elements in a map, providing a list of what one person would think are the
best maps, another person might not even like any of these. Instead, I provided a short list of
very unique maps that are definitely worth playing at least once.

-- tdm_hellsgate --
This is a Team Deathmatch map made by Windebieste. This map is designed to be played with
aliens vs. marines only. Both teams have obectives they must accomplish. More detail on this
is located in the \"Hell\'s Gate\" text in the \"info\" folder, but I recommend a minimum of 8
players (3 aliens, 5 marines) for it to be fun to play, and I also recommend you have a fast
computer and a fast internet connection. This map can be a little laggy at times.

-- suk-stronghold --
This is an Overrun map made by Imp Hunter. This map is designed to be played aliens vs.
marines. The aliens objective is to break into the complex, hunt down the marines, and kill
them before time runs out. The marines must do whatever it takes to survive. This map is
loaded with little goodies. You\'ll need to read the \"Suk-Stronghold\" text file in the \"info\"
folder. I recommend a minimum of 5 players (2 aliens, 3 marines) for it to be fun to play, and
I also recommend you have a fast computer and a fast internet connection. This map is normally
a little laggy.
Please note, I did add this map to Team Deathmatch only so it can be tested before playing due
to how complex this map is. I recommend you play this on Overrun only.

-- toxic feud --
This is an Evac map made by Drex. This map is designed to be played aliens vs. marines. This
is a lot like a standard evac map but, it\'s filled with goodies to make the marines evac easier
or harder, please see the \"Toxic Feud\" text file in the \"info\" folder for details on this. I
recommend a minimum of 6 players (3 aliens, 3 marines) for it to be fun to play. Surprisingly,
for the size of the map and all the features it has, it has no lag.
Please note, I did add this map to Team Deathmatch only so it can be tested before playing due
to how complex this map is. I recommend you play this on Evac only.

As you can see, there\'s only a few maps that I recommend. I would have recommended more, but
people get real picky on which maps they consider to be the best. Since I don\'t want to get into
any debate on this, I\'ll just leave it as is. If you want to find out which maps are the best,
then I suggest you get playing, there is a lot to select from.

______________________________________________________

6) The single player maps in \"Ultimate Mappack 2\"
______________________________________________________

There is a limit to how many custom single player maps you can run at one time. The actual number
is 11. Therefore, I\'ve only added 9 of my favorite custom single player maps.

--------------------------------------------------
Here\'s a list of the custom single player maps
--------------------------------------------------

Crash Land
Fear 1
Fear 2
Friendly Welcome
Gas Facility
Morlock
snoball-pred1
snoball-pred2
Temple of the Worm --- has a read me text ---

Please note I did change the name of some of these slightly to make them appear user-friendly.
An example of what I did is, \"Fear 1\" is actually \"Fear\", and \"Morlock\" is actually
\"skm_Morlock\". Normally you would never change the name of maps, especially for multiplayer
because this can cause confliction problems with the map. But since these are single player maps,
there are no confliction problems with the on-line server. So, you can rename them to whatever
you want too and it\'ll be fine. I just renamed them so they would look more presentible.

Since there is only 9 single player maps in here, out of an 11 you can have, you could actually
add 2 more single player maps to this mappack. I only recommend this if you know how to do this
and if you have done this before. I\'ve tried to make this as user friendly as possible if you
haven\'t done this in awhile. If you have no clue how to add custom single player maps, to this
mappack, then don\'t bother. Just run the individual custom single player maps by themselves.
Please note when you do this, I recommend you remove the -rez UMP2 out of your command-line
while playing custom single player maps which are not in this mappack to minimize any confliction
problems.

______________________________________________________

7) The difference between \"UMP1\" and \"UMP2\"
______________________________________________________

\"Ulimate Mappack 1\" (aka UMP1) had a few problems that I had to address. The problems varied
differently, so no simple patch would have been sufficient. That\'s why I made this mappack known
as \"Ulimate Mappack 2\" (aka UMP2).

This mappack is a complete replacement for \"Ulimate Mappack 1\", meaning the downloading and use
of \"Ulimate Mappack 1\" will no longer be necessary.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Known bugs in \"Ulimate Mappack 1\" that I fixed in this mappack
------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Confliction problem with the FK1099 v1.2 server side mod.

-- A few cases of wrong textures.

-- A bunch of sound files that didn\'t need to be in there.

-- The wrong versions of certain maps.

-- Some maps that were considered to be unplayable, and needed to be removed. (52 of them)

---------------------------------------
New features in \"Ulimate Mappack 2\"
---------------------------------------

-- Added 9 single player maps.

-- Added new multi player maps. (48 of them)

-- A more user-friendly \"Installation and Help\" text.

-- A better \"Ultimate Mappack 2 Info\" text. (this text)

______________________________________________________

8) The Making of \"Ultimate Mappack 2\"
______________________________________________________

Even though \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" was directly derived from \"Ultimate Mappack 1\", there was still
quite a bit of work involved in making this. I know any idiot with \"WinRez LT Studio\" can make a
mappack for \"Aliens vs. Predator 2\", which is exactly what I did with \"Ultimate Mappack 1\", but
if you do that it turns out you end up getting a lot of files you don\'t need in there, some
confliction problems, and other headaches. I spent the last 3 months working on and off trying to
fix all these problems for \"Ultimate Mappack 2\". As far as I can tell, I consider this mappack to
be perfect, there were a lot of things I had to go over, check and double check. A brief overview
of these changes I had to make was stated in the \"The difference between \"UMP1\" and \"UMP2\"\"
section.

downloading this.
\"Ultimate Mappack 1\" This was my first attempt at a mappack. This was
quite popular, but it was made obsolete by this
mappack.
\"Zero Mod Special Edition BETA\" This is a mini mod which modifies the
human weapons. This beta version will be replaced
by the final version very soon, if not already.

______________________________________________________

9) \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" problems
______________________________________________________

All the problems mentioned in here are to be considered minor or non-essential to the use of this
mappack. These problems listed here should not screw up your game or cause any confliction
problems. This is just the downfall of the convience of a mappack this size.

If you are wondering why the \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" is not a rez file type, it\'s because I was
having problems converting it into one since it was so big. So I left it as a folder, don\'t worry
it works just the same.

There is a problem in the host maps selection screen in the game, the blue highlight box around
the \"Availble Maps\" box, is elongated. That\'s because of maps with very long names, the blue
highlighted box has to conform around the name of the maps. Nothing I can really do about this
problem, it doesn\'t hurt anything, it just looks weird.

There might be problems with missing sounds and missing textures or textures that are screwed up
in certain maps. Please note when I made \"Ultimate Mappack 1\", and \"Ultimate Mappack 2\", I got
many maps out of other peoples mappacks and if they were screwed up in their\'s, then it will be
screwed up in mine as well. Also I ran into a problem, two different mappers making a custom
texture the same name and placing in the same folder, therefore, I could only pick one. As for
some sound problems, there were a couple of sounds that were causing problems so I had to remove
them. There are a few textures that were causing confliction problems and I had to remove them,
which is a shame because one of the textures is out of one of my favorite maps. There also can be
some missing textures and sounds that I could have just screwed up myself. And if that happened
to one of your maps, or one of your favorite maps, then I am SORRY.

______________________________________________________

10) A tribute to all the mappers
______________________________________________________

Being that there are so many maps, there would probably be close to one hundred mappers who have
made maps in \"Ultimate Mappack 2\". It\'s also close to impossible for me to get a complete list of
all their names. Even if I did get all their names, people would still want to know what mappers
made what maps. I did attempt to try and make a list of all the mappers and their maps, but the
list was far from complete. And since I believe all mappers who have made maps in this mappack
deserves equal credit, I decided not add it to this mappack, because it would be unfair for the
mappers I had left out.

If someone would like to help me with the research and completion of the mapper list please let
me know. I would be more than glad to add that information to any future Mappacks I would make,
or post that information on a website where people can access it at any time.

------------------------------------------------------
To all the Mappers who have made maps in this Mappack, I would like to say
------------------------------------------------------

\"Thanks for contributing your time and energy to this great game.\"
\"Thanks for giving us better gaming experience.\"
\"Thanks for keeping the multiplayer experience fresh and new with your maps.\"
\"And a big thanks for helping to keep \"Aliens vs. Predator 2\" alive.\"

-----------------------------------------------------------
If you are a mapper who has made a map in this mappack,
this information below is pertinent to you.
-----------------------------------------------------------

I would have liked to have placed all the \"read me\" text files that accompanied all the
individual maps, but being that there are so many maps in this mappack there would probably be
well over 100 \"read me\" text files. And although that would be helpful to have them all accompany
this mappack, no one in their right mind would go through and read them all. Therefore, I only
added a few which I thought were necessary for the more complex maps.

I know I did not ask permission from any mappers if it was okay to add their maps first, but I
feel this is okay because I\'m trying to do whatever it takes to keep people playing on custom
maps. Most new maps nowadays, are REZ files, therefore, most people can only run a handful of
custom maps at any time. By making this mappack, this will allow people to play on every custom
map, which is far easier and more convinent for us. Believe it or not, this should actually have
more people playing on your map(s) due to the convience factor. If you are upset that I didn\'t
ask permission to add these maps then I am sorry, but I felt I had to do this to keep AVP2 alive.

Any credit I get from making this mappack should honestly go out to all you mappers because
without all your great custom maps this mappack would literally not exist.

11) Future mappacks
______________________________________________________

If I overlooked a map or someone has made a map after the release of this mappack, I\'d be more
than happy to add it in any future mappack I make. But, I\'m not planning on making another big
mappack for awhile, in fact this might be it for me. If there is a need for an \"Ultimate Mappack
3\", then maybe I will, but I am planning on making a an expansion pack to this mappack. At the
moment I can\'t say when it will be released or how many maps it will contain. This will not be a
replacement for this mappack just an optional add-on. I will most likely name the expansion
\"Ultimate Mappack 2.1\", or something like this.

There are some preferred requirements that I\'m requesting, if you make maps:

-- Give your map an original name, because believe it or not, people remember it better that way.

-- No long map names.(I hate long named maps)

-- No big maps, not enough people play on custom maps nowadays, to make playing on a big map fun
anymore.

-- Try to use very little custom textures as possible, or if possible don\'t use any custom
textures and/or sounds, because you can still make a good map that way.
(for example look at a map named: \"Toxic Feud\")

-- If you wish to use custom textures and/or sound files, put them in a folder and give it a
unique name. This makes it much easier to add these files to a mappack. If you\'re a true
mapper, then you know exactly what I\'m talking about.

______________________________________________________

12) Copyright and permissions
______________________________________________________

This text should always accompany this mappack where ever it\'s available for download.

You are not permitted to commercially exploit this mappack, meaning you are not authorized to
exploit this mappack for financial gain.

You are not allowed to add or remove any files of this mappack and then redistribute this mappack
for download, unless my permission is given.

You are not allowed to take any of the maps in this mappack and rename them, and distribute them
for download. If you do change an existing map or modify it, you may rename it and reissue it for
download, but this can only be done if a mapper has released the ED file for that map.
Please contact the author of that map to verify permission.

As for all the textures and sound files in this mappack, they are free for anyone\'s useage, but
understand some of these files were custom made and much hard work and thought went into them.
So, if you plan on using any of these files, use them in moderation.

13) Too unlucky for me
______________________________________________________

This being section 13, I figured I might jinx this mappack if I put any important information in
this section. So, I\'m going to play it safe and leave it as is.

1) Before Installing
_____________________________________________________

Make sure that you have over 3.18 GB (3256 MB) free space on your hard drive.

If you have UMP1 installed, I recommend you delete it out to make more free space on your hard
drive. To do so, all you have to do is go in to your \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\" folder.
(the default is \"c:\\Program Files\\Fox\\Aliens Vs,Predator 2\")
And delete the \"UMP1\" folder. Now go start the game, in the Game Launcher\'s Main Menu select:
\"Options\". Now delete out: -rez UMP1 in your \"Command-Line\". Now click \"Ok\" and UMP1 should
be successfully uninstalled.

_____________________________________________________

2) Install \"Ultimate Mappack 2\"
_____________________________________________________

-------------------------------------------------------
To install \"Ultimate Mappack 2\", follow these steps
-------------------------------------------------------

Extract the \"Ultimate Mappack 2.rar\" file out of the \"Ultimate Mappack 2.zip\" file.

Extract the \"UMP2\" folder out of the \"Ultimate Mappack 2.rar\" file.
(you need \"WinRAR\" to open \"Ultimate Mappack 2.rar\" file)

Place the \"UMP2\" folder in your \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\" folder.
(the default is \"c:\\Program Files\\Fox\\Aliens Vs. Predator 2\")

Start the game.

In the Game Launcher\'s Main Menu select: \"Options\".

Enter (copy and paste, if you like) into the \"Command-Line\" field: -rez UMP2

Check the box marked \"Always specify these command-line parameters\" to always load the mappack.

To return to the Game Launcher\'s Main Menu click: \"Ok\".

In the Game Launcher\'s Main Menu select: \"Play\".

The mappack is now installed.

\"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" and \"AJL MOD\".

Proper instructions for how to install for these expansion/mod are located in the \"Other Common
Installation\" section.

_____________________________________________________

3) After Installing
_____________________________________________________

Please go through and read all the other text files that came with this mappack. They hold
vital information about this mappack and the maps in it. This is highly recommended.

I recommend you store all the text files that came with this mod in a safe place for future
reference.

This isn\'t required but it\'s recommended that you defragment your hard drive. If you don\'t know
how to do this, then don\'t bother.

Also if you plan on running a dedicated server with \"Ulimate mappack 2\" maps, then you need to
add a \"customrez\" text file. Please note, you may already have one of these. You don\'t need to
replace the one you already have with the one that came with \"Ulimate mappack 2\", but you will
need to update the one you have. Please see the \"Dedicated Server Help\" section for more detail
on this.
(a text file is also known as a text document)

------------------------------------------------------------
To install the \"customrez\" text file, follow these steps
------------------------------------------------------------

Extract (cut and paste, if you like) the \"customrez\" text file out of the \"Info\" folder.
(a text file is also known as a text document)

Place the \"customrez\" text file in your \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\" folder.
(the default is \"c:\\Program Files\\Fox\\Aliens Vs. Predator 2\")

And that\'s all you have to do.

5) Command-Line Help
_____________________________________________________

--------------------------------------------------------------
For help on running multiple commands in your command-line
--------------------------------------------------------------

If you wish to run \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" with any other maps, mappacks, skins, skin packs, sound
packs or mods, make sure you enter them in the correct order into the command line. Please
note, you can only have six commands in your command-line. However, this number does vary
depending on certain game related files that may have been installed on your system. It should
be about six. When entering multiple files into a command-line, where you place the command for
the file depends on if its a multiplayer map, single player map, mappack, skin, skin pack,
sound pack, or a mod. Multiplayer maps and mappacks should be placed first in the command-line.
Skins, skin packs, and sound packs should be placed after any multiplayer map or mappack.
Single player maps, and mods should be placed last in the command-line.
(See examples below)

Please note you can only have rez file types, and folders (as far as I know) added to the
command-line.

If it\'s a folder type map, mappack (like UMP2), skin, skin pack, sound pack, or mod then you
don\'t need to add the .rez file extension to the end of the name. But if the map, mappack,
skin, skin pack, sound pack, or mod is a rez file type, then you do need to add the .rez file
extension to the end of it\'s name.

-------------------------------------
Example of the command-line order
-------------------------------------

The examples shown below are of rez file types, EXCEPT for UMP2, which is a folder style
mappack. All the command examples are shown in the correct order for the command-line.

-rez UMP2 -rez MPmap.rez -rez skinpack.rez -rez soundpack.rez -rez SPmap.rez -rez mod.rez

| | | | | |
| | | | | |
(any mappack) | (any skin or skin pack) | (any single player map) |
| | |
(any multiplayer map) (any sound pack) (any mod)

Please note, in the example it only showed one type of each custom file category for AVP2, but
you can run more than one of each file category. Meaning, you can run six mappacks, if you
wanted too. Or, three mappacks, one skin pack, one single player map, and one mod, but note,
they have to be in their correct order. Also, I only recommend you run one single player map
and/or mod at one time. These can cause confliction problems depending on the type of
modification done to this type of file.

Please be aware if you run multiple custom file commands in your command-line, then if any of
these files have the same changes and/or contain the same contains, then the file placed last
in the command-line order would be the one dominant file. An example of what this means is that
if you run two skin packs, and both skin packs have a different skin for the alien, the skin
pack that is placed last in the command-line order will be the one that shows up in the game.

I recommend you don\'t run custom skins or sound packs. Please see the \"Don\'t Use Custom Skins\"
section for more information on this.

This section was put in here to tell you the correct order of how files should be placed in
your command-line. The command-line can be very tricky to use, I would recommend running as
little commands in it as possible.

6) Dedicated Server Help
_____________________________________________________

----------------------------------------------------------
For help on making a dedicated server run custom maps
----------------------------------------------------------

If you want to run custom multiplayer maps on the dedicated server, you will have to set up a
special text file called: \"customrez\" which the server reads to find the map directory.

\"Ultimate Mappack 2\" comes with the \"customrez\" text file. It\'s located in your \"Info\" folder.
(installing this was stated in the \"After installing\" section)

If you just wish to update the \"customrez\" text file, you alread have. Just read everything
below this point in this section to obtain a greater understanding of what you have to do.

----------------------------------------------------------
To make a new \"customrez\" text file follow these steps
----------------------------------------------------------

1) Make a text file named: customrez
(a text file is also known as a text document)

2) The \"customrez\" file goes in your \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\" folder.
(the default is \"c:\\Program Files\\Fox\\Aliens Vs. Predator 2\")

3) Edit the \"customrez\" file, by adding the format of example (A) to make UMP2 work on a
dedicated server. If you wish to load a different mappack or a mod or a combination of both,
see the examples (A) - (D) on how this should be set up.
(the examples are shown just below)

---------------------------------------------------
Also of importance to the \"customrez\" text file
---------------------------------------------------

Please note that the \"customrez\" text file is only used with the multiplayer dedicated server.
Therefore, you do not add any skin or sound packs or single player maps to customrez format.

Only rez file types, and folders (as far as I know) can be added to the \"customrez\" text file
format as seen in the examples (A) - (D).
(the examples are shown just below)

If it\'s a folder type mappack (like UMP2) or mod then you don\'t need to add the .rez file
extension to the end of the name. But if the mappack or mod is a rez file type, then you do
need to add the .rez file extension to the end of it\'s name.
(see examples (A) - (D), shown just below)

Please note when adding a mod into the \"customrez\" text file, the server will automatically run
that mod every time, unless you remove it.

Also, if you want to run a mod, the mod should always be placed last in the \"customrez\" text
file for it to work properly.
(and by last, I mean right below any mappack in there but not the very bottom line, look at
example (B) and (D), unless specified not to, please contact whoever made the mod to be sure)
(the examples are shown just below)

------------------------------------------------
Examples of the \"customrez\" text file format
------------------------------------------------

Here are some examples of how the \"customrez\" text file format should be set up.

------------------------
(A) Example of UMP2
------------------------

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"\"

Rez2 =\"\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"

---------------------------------------------------
(B) Example of UMP2 and a mod named: coolguns
(coolguns would be a rez file type)
---------------------------------------------------

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"coolguns.rez\"

Rez2 =\"\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"

----------------------------------------------------------
(C) Example of UMP2 and a mappack named: clanmappack
(clanmappack would be a rez file type)
----------------------------------------------------------

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"clanmappack.rez\"

Rez2 =\"\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"

-------------------------------
(D) Example of (B) and (C)
-------------------------------

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"clanmappack.rez\"

Rez2 =\"coolguns.rez\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"

If you noticed, with examples (A) - (D), there were six spaces to add your custom maps/mods.
The most you\'ll ever need would be about three spaces, but I have six in the examples and in
the \"customrez\" text file included with \"Ultimate Mappack 2\". This should be more than enough
spaces for running your maps/mods, then you\'ll ever need.

If you are wondering which examples were of a real mappacks/mod, the answer is (A), for how
\"Ultimate Mappack 2\" format is. (B) - (D) were made up examples. Please note, I would have
added more real examples for maps/mods, but there are so many out there, I decided to use some
common made up ones.

Please note, this section was designed to teach you, not tell you what to do. In this way,
you\'ll now be able to update and change your \"customrez\" text file for any maps/mods that you
may have on your dedicated server in the future. If you are still confused on the correct way
to set up the \"customrez\" text file format, just start playing around with it, with all the
information in here, you\'re bound to figure it out.

If you wish to run a dedicated server side mod, www.avp2maps.com offers a utility pack which
comes with the latest version of server side mods and some useful files and such.
(I recommend you download this if it\'s still available)

_____________________________________________________

7) Other Common Installation
_____________________________________________________

Here is the installation steps for \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" and \"AJL MOD\".

I only added installation information for these two expansion/mod because these are the two most
next common expansion/mod that people use custom maps on.

---------------------------------------------------------
\"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" installation
---------------------------------------------------------

There are two ways to install \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" for \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\"

-------------------------
Here is the first way
-------------------------

You would install it just as you would for the original \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\" but place the
\"UMP2\" folder into your \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" folder.

All the command-line installation steps will be the same except where it says \"Start the
Game\", make sure you start \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" and not \"Aliens Vs.
Predator 2\".

If you also wish to run a custom map dedicated server, all the same steps would apply except,
the \"customrez\" text file would go into your \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" folder.

--------------------------
Here is the second way
--------------------------

Install \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" just like it says for \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\". Once you have it
installed on the original \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\", launch your \"Aliens versus Predator 2 -
Primal Hunt\" game and select: \"Options\", to get to the command-line.

Add the following command to the command-line:

-rez \"C:\\Program Files\\Fox\\Aliens vs. Predator 2\\UMP2\"

Please note, this is a very long command and I recommend that you copy and paste it in there.

Make sure you also Check the box marked \"Always specify these command-line parameters\" to
always load the mappack.

Then click: \"Ok\"

The mappack should now be installed on \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" now.

Please note, this only applies if your \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" game is
installed in the default location. If it\'s not, and you don\'t know how to change the command
to make this work, then I recommend you do the first installation way.

This will save you the need to have two \"Ultimate Mappack 2\", one in your \"Aliens Vs.
Predator 2\" folder and one in your \"Aliens versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt\" folder. This
method saves hard drive space.

This method makes it harder to run a custom map dedicated server. If you wish to run a custom
map dedicated server, I recommend you run the first installation way.

--------------------------
\"AJL MOD\" installation
--------------------------

Please note this is not ideal to do this, you do so at your own risk. I am not responsible for
any conflictions with this.

Since the \"AJL MOD\" has its own launching icon and doesn\'t have the ability to get into the
command-line via options, you have to install it a different way.

You will need to get into the \"AJLMod\" folder (assuming you\'ve already installed it), which will
be located in your \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\" folder. Once in the \"AJLMod\" folder, you should see a
\"avp2cmds\" text file, and if you have the patch for the \"AJL MOD\", you will see \"avp2cmds\" text
file and \"avp2cmds2\" text file.

If you only have one text file, update that one, but if you have both text files, update both.
The only reason to do this to both text files it\'s easier to keep track of them and you\'re less
likely to mix them up. I know you only need to update the current one, but it won\'t hurt doing
both, after all if you are reading these instructions that means you are not 100% sure on how
to do this correctly, so these steps I have given you are the most user friendly.

If the AJL mod ever comes out with another patch, and that patch has a third text file, you\'ll
need to update that one as well.

Please note before you update these text file(s) make sure you back them up, meaning copy and
paste them in a safe location. I recommend making a folder named: \"AJL back up files\" and
placing that in your \"AJLMod\" folder.

To update the text file(s) open the text file(s), and it should look like a very long series of
commands, like something you\'d have in your command-line but longer. You want to scroll all the
way to the end of the commands, and type in: -rez UMP2

Make sure you space it a few spots away from the last command before you add-in the -rez UMP2.

Then save the text file and that\'s all you have to do.

Please note, I did test this myself and I managed to crash the game in 5 minutes while on a
custom map. So, game crashes will be quite common depending on what custom maps you play on.
Sorry, I can\'t give a full list of which custom maps to avoid while playing on the \"AJL MOD\".

If you wish to run a custom map dedicated server on the \"AJL MOD\", you\'ll have to set up the
\"customrez\" text file the same way you would for \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\". Except, the
\"customrez\" text file needs to go into your \"AJLMod\" folder.

Please note when making a dedicated server with the \"AJL MOD\", you do NOT have to add the \"AJL
MOD\" to the \"customrez\" text file. Meaning, -rez AJLMod. Because the \"AJL MOD\" is set up more
like an expansion than a mod, this is the reason you don\'t have to do this.

_____________________________________________________

8) Don\'t Use Custom Skins
_____________________________________________________

Don\'t use custom skins, but why?

This is because a lot of servers nowadays run special server mods which can prohibit the use of
custom skins and sound packs. These server mods are very popular with the servers that run
custom maps. If you try and join a server (when you are running custom skins or sound pack) and
you can\'t join, you\'ll now know why.

The reason for these server mods is to stop cheaters and hackers, but it\'s not going to stop all
of them, but it will stop most.

These server mods have special features that does \"crc checks\", which sees who might be running
cheat skins or hacks or special vision modes. The \"crc checks\" feature also blocks use of the
harmless skins and sound packs that most people like to play with.

Wouldn\'t I be able to see if someone\'s running these cheater skins while playing on a server?

NO, you would not be able to see or know if someone was running custom skins or sound packs. For
you to see someone else\'s custom skins and sound packs you have to be running the same ones that
person is. Since there is no way of knowing what custom skins or sound packs a person is running,
that is why the \"crc checks\" feature was added to server mods.

If you know of a server that has \"crc checks\" feature on, you can request to whomever hosts that
server, for them to turn that off so you can run your custom skins. However, this decision is up
to whoever hosts the server.

There still are a lot of servers that don\'t run server mods or have the \"crc checks\" feature
turned off, so you can run your custom skins or sound packs or both, on these servers. But like
I said, most custom map servers have the \"crc checks\" feature on.

3) What \"Ultimate Mappack 2\" contains
______________________________________________________

Please note that I did not make any of the maps in \"Ultimate mappack 2\". I just took all the maps
I was able to get, and combined them into one big mappack.

\"Ultimate Mappack 2\" contains almost every custom map made for \"Aliens vs. Predator 2\", from the

A brief overview
of these changes I had to make was stated in the \"The difference between \"UMP1\" and \"UMP2\"\"
section.

______________________________________________________

1) Before Installing
_____________________________________________________

Make sure that you have over 3.18 GB (3256 MB) free space on your hard drive.

If you have UMP1 installed, I recommend you delete it out to make more free space on your hard
drive. To do so, all you have to do is go in to your \"Aliens Vs. Predator 2\" folder.
(the default is \"c:\\Program Files\\Fox\\Aliens Vs,Predator 2\")
And delete the \"UMP1\" folder. Now go start the game, in the Game Launcher\'s Main Menu select:
\"Options\". Now delete out: -rez UMP1 in your \"Command-Line\". Now click \"Ok\" and UMP1 should
be successfully uninstalled.

_____________________________________________________

| | | | | |
| | | | | |
| | |

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"\"

Rez2 =\"\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"

---------------------------------------------------
(B) Example of UMP2 and a mod named: coolguns
(coolguns would be a rez file type)
---------------------------------------------------

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"coolguns.rez\"

Rez2 =\"\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"

----------------------------------------------------------
(C) Example of UMP2 and a mappack named: clanmappack
(clanmappack would be a rez file type)
----------------------------------------------------------

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"clanmappack.rez\"

Rez2 =\"\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"

-------------------------------
(D) Example of (B) and (C)
-------------------------------

[Rez]

Rez0 =\"UMP2\"

Rez1 =\"clanmappack.rez\"

Rez2 =\"coolguns.rez\"

Rez3 =\"\"

Rez4 =\"\"

Rez5 =\"\"
