Ubisoft "experimenting" with 360/PS3 motion tech

Ubisoft Montreal is currently "experimenting" with Xbox 360 and PS3's motion devices, studio president Yannis Mallat has said.
Speaking to CVG in London last night, the Montreal and Toronto boss said that the developer would consider incorporating Natal and PS3 motion devices into existing franchises.
"We're experimenting," he said. "At the end of the day what is really important is the quality of the game, that's the golden rule at Ubisoft. If using the new control devices enhances the quality of the experience, then we'll do it. Should it be new IPs, should it be our own brands.
"As we speak we are experimenting with that stuff."
When asked if bringing existing motion IPs, Red Steel and Raving Rabbids to PS3 and Natal was a possibility, Mallat responded: "I cannot comment on that."

I'm so tired of this motion device gimmick. Sure it appeals to casuals, but more actual gamers I know that own say a Wii haven't turned in on in ages, because lets face it. The gimmick sucks, and the Wii sucks. Motion is meh... I prefer a mouse and keyboard or a controller. Now virtual reality, now that will be a huge step for gaming, but first developers need to quit focusing so much on graphics as I think graphics are pretty much nailed, and start working on much, much better AI. Actual intelligent AI will be the gateway into VR. This motion gimmick is dull, I rather better AI, that could lead to an actual step into VR.

I read somewhere ages back that developers are having a very tough time programming accurate pathfinding.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathfinding
The process of instructing an AI controlled character (NPC) to move from destination A to destination B while avoiding obstacles is an extremely difficult process.
I kind of agree with Strange Angel in that a lot of attention has been put into graphics. I guess the average kind of gamer is attracted by vibrant use of colour and the high resolution we have all come to expect from modern titles.
Normally most games I buy these days will have some sort of modification applied within the first few months. I think the most critical issue is to keep games open to customization. Many PC console ports restrict modders from altering or adding to any part of the game.
Oblivion is a great example where the community as a whole helped to complete the game. If game developers were to embrace a concept of a fully moddable game then sales would probably increase by about 1000%.
Before I buy any kind of game I'll check to see if its moddable or has an editor. People are creative and someone's imagination can put hours if not days of additional playability into a game.
I want a holodeck!
