Perfectly Steady Aim for Mastered Skills

Postby Masamune Zenith » August 11th, 2012, 8:13 pm

This is a simple idea I had that probably should have been done long ago. How about a mod that completely does away with the shaky camera and jittery aim of ranged weapons after you master the weapon's skill? In other words, whenever you max out your Guns, Energy Weapons, or Melee (or whatever the thrown weapons skill is for spears, axes and such), there will be no "wiggling" of the camera when you aim down the iron sights or through your scope. Essentially it's a permanent dose of Steady, but it would depend on what weapon skill you've pushed to 100.

Or perhaps even better, just be over the weapon's minimum skill requirements by a certain percentage. For example anyone can use the trail carbine with a guns 75 or over and they're dead eye .

I don't use Iron Sights, but your aim is always steady with no wobble unless you are using a scope. What's left is the weapon Spread, which typically has an absolute minimum that is defined for each weapon. A global change for all weapons without having to manually create a patch for every mod that includes a weapon is something that might possibly be addressed by Wrye Flash if they chose to program that function.
In the meantime, to help you understand weapon spread, you can try Dynamic Crosshair -- http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43550

With a scope, you can change a GMST to remove the wobble and for most weapons you will be dead on. Some weapons for unclear reasons still have spread when using a scope.

Good luck!
