Tagged skills get a bonus of 25 rather than 15. Now a tagged skill is something you are competent at, rather than "less useless at".

Your character is supposed to be a courier anywhere between the ages of 18 and 60 years old, so you should have some decent life experience already. You'll start off able to shoot a pistol staight, prepare stuff at a campfire or sneak up to someone and have a decent chance of pickpocketing them.

This makes the first few hours a bit easier, but in total only gives you 30 points more than normal (10 per tagged skill), so it doesn't significantly affect game balance in the long run.

I feel this is the best compromise between the pathetic 15 point bonus you get in New Vegas and Fallout 3, and the way tag skills worked in Fallout 1 and 2 and Tactics.

-------------------

Installation: Simply install into the "Data" folder in your Fallout New Vegas folder. Then when you launch the game, click on the "Data" option and tick the Tag Skills Improved.esp file.

This mod will work correctly no matter where you are in the game - once activated your tagged skills will be 10 points better than the were before.

--------------------

Note:
This mod was inspired by Alluvian's mod "Better Tag Skills", which gave the same bonus of 25, but also made it so that the benefit of spending points on Tag skills should be twice normal, just like Fallout 1 and 2. Nice idea, but that seems a little overpowered to me, as it effectively frees up hundreds of extra skill points that the New Vegas developers never expected you to have. (Fallout 1 and 2 had more skills, and skills could be boosted beyond 100.)

I imagine that my mod will also affect the "Tag!" perk you get late in the game, which lets you select an extra Tag skill. The "Tag!" perk was ludicrously powerful in Fallout 1 and 2, in New Vegas it is OK, with Tag Skills Improved it'll be great.

Permission: This mod may be re-released and used in other projects. (Given that I based mine on Alluvian's it would be hypocritical for me to say otherwise!)
