Sound card not working

Postby Martian » February 22nd, 2011, 10:19 pm

I have a Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 digital (SB0220) sound card and it works fine on an xp machine but when i put it in my windows 7 machine its not even recognised as being there.
I have tried to install drivers but they are all for xp/2000/vista and wont install.
Any one got any tips?

apparently alot of things do not work with windows 7 (microsoft trying to kill off old products to make people buy new products) its the same with my printer, works fine on xp and vista, but not with windows 7, same as well with some popular microsoft games as well belive it or not like halo 2 (yet some people have made fixes for this) you could maybe see if someone has made a unoffical fix for it, i am sure someone may have made one, you should ask webslug or revraptor aboout this though (probly as a PM) they do know alot more about computers then i do.

anyways, good luck with your search.

SB0220 is an OEM card made by Creative Labs for some company to install in their pc during assembly. Companies like HP, Compaq, Gateway, Dell, etc. It's quite old and hasn't been manufactured in several years. Creative Labs doesn't support OEM cards but you can use Creative Labs drivers providing they have them posted. They do not for Windows 7 for this particular card. This card was supported up through Windows XP and that's it. No support in Vista or Windows 7.

I found this link to a driver, however it is for Windows XP. The individual said he tried to install it in Windows 7 anyway and it worked.

Might be worth a try...
