"Run or shoot?" - The eternal question posed by the great philosopher Louis. Do we run away from life's problems, or face them head on (with the help of high caliber bullets)? Members of the school of Bill contend that the answer is "Both". That there's no need to choose; one must simply run backwards while shooting to gain all the benefits of both. I reject that answer...

This mod decreases your speed when running backwards, so now you can't just run away at top speed while shooting that deathclaw. You have to pick one or the other, and live with the consequences. Much needed tactical depth, or tedious, unnecessary realism? You be the judge.

The degree to which your speed is reduced is customizable - see the readme.

The default backpedaling speed is half of your normal speed, but you can change it if you want to.
Open the console (press ~) and type "set backpedalspeed to x" where x is a number between 0 and 100. So for example if you wanted to backpedal at 25% of your normal speed you would type "set backpedalspeed to 25". If you want your backpedaling speed to be based on your agility, type "set backpedalagility to 1" into the console; replace 1 with 0 to turn it off.

You may include this mod in any compilation or similar project as long as you give me credit and include this readme.

Instructions:

1. Extract Backpedal.esp to your /fallout 3/Data/ folder

2. In the Fallout 3 launcher, click on Data Files and enable Backpedal.esp
