OSM & "All Armor Playable"

Postby madcat66 » July 3rd, 2010, 6:37 am

New guy here, not new to Oblivion, yadda yadda.

Anyway, so I'm using Oblivion Sexualized Monsters in my current Mod-Load, because it's awesome, and I'm also using the "All Armor Playable" mod that allows you to loot and use armor from monsters that isn't normally available (such as the Flame Atronach armor). The problem I'm running into is that I think OSM is making some of these armor pieces transparent, specifically with the Flame Atronach, iirc, but possibly one or two others (haven't made the trip over to the Shivering Isles yet in this play-through) will have the same problem.

Does OSM specifically change the armor of the Flame Atronachs and, since I'm on the subject, the Golden Saints and Dark Seducers? I have a feeling that the answer is "yes" as this would be why you can see various bits and parts, but I'm not certain. This leads to my next question... is it possible to change that?

I don't think I'd mind so much if I could loot Flame Atronach armor in stead of being chased around by big, flaming dicks... but, eh, don't knock it if you haven't tried it?

Anyway, thanks!

Finding out is fairly easy. Do you know that handy tool called Nifskope? Just get it, make windows open *.nif files with it and open the armor you are looking for.
In order to compare the modded armor with the original one you probably need the BSA browser. This tool allows you to browse thru the contents of the Oblivion archives (BSA = Bethesda Softworks Archive) and to extract the files you want to know more about.

Make no mistakes: Oblivion is a big chunk of software, in some parts really sophisticated stuff, thus learning to modify things takes some patience: I am presently learning Blender which can be used to change the shape of things thoroughly. Quite daunting.

the problem could be about the textures.
armors are new in OSM, but i used the vanilla textures to save space. so if all armors textures are modified, it's could be a problem.
could you give the link to the mod "all armors", like this i'll see and i'll make a patch.

for your second question, dark seducers and golden saints are still the same, first because i didn't make the mod for shivering isles, secondly because this two creatures are non-playable races, abnd follow the vanilla races rules.
but to change that is possible, even easier. but it should be another mod.

but i don't really understand what you asked for in the first part of your post.

Here's the mod I was talking about:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28956

Basically what this does is turn the armor on certain creatures (like the Flame Atronach) into lootable, useable gear.

Specifically with the Flame Atronach (as it's the one monster I'm having the most trouble with), it may have boots, bracers, greaves or a cuirass on the body. The boots, bracers and greaves show up fine. The cuirass, however, doesn't. Wearing it is like being topless, except that you gain the benefits of its armor rating. If you drop it on the ground, though, it has a mesh.

I'm wondering if the cause of this problem is because OSM makes the Flame Atronach topless by removing the mesh from the worn version of the armor? Not sure if OSM works in that manner, it's just one possible method, but neither neither version of the Atronach has a visible breastplate, which is not the case in vanilla Oblivion.

Just trying to figure out if I can have the best of both worlds, which would be topless Atronachs that give me armor I can wear (and see) and look vaguely Atronachish.

I just DL it, i take a look as soon as i have time.
i think if you can't use this mod with mine, it's only because the onsters in OSM are new monsters, different of the vanilla monsteres.
i'll see if a compatibility pach is possible.
