Re: How Much Should DLC Cost?
You already bought the WHOLE game, why should you pay extra for a few maps? What the hell is our motive for that?
Companies are just looking for more ways to rip us off.
Obsidian/Bethesda have already done it with New Vegas by making the game unplayable after the main quest...
JUST like they did with Fallout 3 and you had to purchase a DLC just to be able to carry on playing after it.
It just shows that theyre going to release another DLC so you can play after the main quest.
It makes me sick.

Re: How Much Should DLC Cost?
to emphasize this i'd like to interject here that i have been gaming in and out of both tournaments and user developed games for nearly 2 decades now and what has been a standard in gaming enviroments is now going by the way side in favor of the gawd allmighty dollar sign....
There is a new trend that is slowwly taking over the gaming industry and i for one dont like it....it used to be that when an individual purchased a game he/she could play it by themselves in single player mode and if they wanted to have alil more fun they could get together have play against a freind
---- or they could both compete to play against the pc as a team or an individual player in a tag team effort...
here for the last 10 years or so there have been MMORPG's that have brought a new aspect to the gaming industry , you as a player could purchase a game play the single player mode and learn the basics to the game, then you could team up and go against the pc or better yet go against other teams , and these games often spurred user interfaces that allowed these gaming hosts the ability to write in new content, maps, additional map packs, weapons, armours, features to the games and they all often led to more fun in the gaming industry but but todays standards that is becomming a thing of the past
now we have moved or are in the process of moving beyond that aspect of allowing the gamers "who are the true blood and guts of this enterprize" to have access to these feature are now finding themselves on the cusp of having that very ability of beoing able to intteract between themselves and the gaming enviroment being yanked out from under them in favor of dedicated server hosts, non user interfaces and no support for file manipulations, no custom user interfaces which allow a game platform to be utilized beyond that of the game devolopers concetion of how the game is played....
now adays you have the game developers that are making games to be played their way, with their mods, with their contractual permissions, on their hosted servers, and if you want to play their games you have to pay their prices over and beyond the cost of the game itself, which to me is and should be illegal as the whole point of purchasing a game title is the right of everyone ....if you are purchasing a game title that is sold in a store of any kind then you the consumer are purchasing the legal rights to play that game on your hardware....it shouldnt be set up so that you the consumer hafta purchase not only the rights to play the game but also to purchase the game time time and the credits to play a game that you already have purchased the liscence to play that title for
now we have games comming out that dont allow you to play any sort of single player modes but now you must purchase not only the game but you must purchase the online connection before you can play the damned game, forgive the anger but these are the games that are breaking down the fundamentals for everyone having Gaming websites that run and gun in clan type enviroments...games like CODWAW/ION/ to name a few require you the player to pay monthly after purchase of game to play on their servers, there are no custom made maps no dedicated servers , unless you want to count the servers their companys host, there are no user accounts , no abilities to allow players to host their own servers or create their maps or to controll their own aspects of clansmanships .... no i dont like the way the gaming industry is going
to put it this way ...how would everyone one of the Oblivion or Morrowind modders like it if, say the producers of the game said from now on you can no longer have the support for making new mods for the game and instead hafta pay a monthly fee to our licencing firms for the right to play your game that you already have purchased the right to play by purchasing a liscenced game to begin with or loose the right to play it alltogether
Game developers need to understand that US players and or consumers of their products aren't just Dollar signs nor a marketing venture to Forbes magazines, we are an integral part of this industry, they need to understand that a good title is one thing but if you take the user or the consumer out of the equasion then you are sacrificing the longevity of your product and all that it can become
Dont get me wrong .... the gaming industry is good to a point but that line to me is starting to fray, to me its no better then the hype that all of these GPU comapnies or the CPU companies are tryin to bottle feed us the Consumers with their Crysis demos and the 2 billion polygon counts... in the end were all still working on 32 bit OS's and those cant go very much further so for now its all Bottle fed Hype
