Video Games Can Cause Mental Health Problems
by loder » January 18th, 2011, 10:30 am
Apparently according to this news article playing video games can actually cause mental health issues. I'm not so sure myself and my other personality agrees too.

yes, it's very well known.
video games cause mental damages, make kids violent, racist, epileptic, gay and so on..
how many time i heard that about anythings ( comic books, rock and roll, motorbikes..)
this study was certainly made by the same "scientists" who want to prove black people were inferior to white people.
suckers!

I fully agree with you! Nobody mentions the recent studies showing that gaming could actually have some health benefits. One example is where computer games are being used as an effective form of physiotherapy for children with cystic fibrosis, for arm injuries or to help improve hand strength.
In US there is an organisation called "Games for Health" that is championing the research and knowledge sharing of gaming in healthcare, bringing together and supporting researchers, medical professionals and games developers.

True.
There's a new program here in Australia using video games for the elderly to help maintain fitness, like the dancing games and others.
It doesn't matter what it is, some so called do gooder will find something wrong with it and cast the evil eye, at times without even playing the game...or any game for that matter. Same applies to books, TV, movies and anything enjoyable and educational as well.
I know a few people personally who think games are strictly for kids and I've been told I should grow up because I play games myself. I tell them it's good for the reflexes, the imagination, stress relief and a multitude of other reasons and they should try it sometime because it might help their attitude.
The average age of gamers these days is mid 30's onwards and I know of a couple at least in the 70's.
Ignorance isn't really bliss.
Neither is censorship which is becoming a big issue here.

In that case just tell them that if they feel that way then they should give up movies, because many of the story-driven games are like experiencing the movie more so than watching it.Maigrets wrote:I know a few people personally who think games are strictly for kids and I've been told I should grow up because I play games myself.
