Force Unleashed and Coffee with the man who sold it to me

Postby Strange Angel » July 23rd, 2009, 8:31 am

Yes let me start by saying today was a weird day for me. So I had a doctors appointment I went I saw, and I got my blood taken from me. The usual, I guess that happens when you're in constant pain and almost die. They also upped my pain meds so uhh yeah. Anyway on the way back home I decided to stop by Gamestop and buy a used copy of The Force Unleashed a game I neglected to try out like a year ago even though from what I was told it was really good. I'll get to that in a moment. Anyway I've been walking with a cane these days, and I've been all depressive and well I don't want to get emo on the board.

Anyway the guy at Gamestop has seen me go in and out and kinda knows me, and whilst buying the game a conversation was struck up about the fact that I'm a 26 well 27 tomorrow, year old woman with a cane. He asked if I was in an accident, and thus the depressing explanation of my current condition ensued. He was very nice about it though, and sympathetic. Actually it was his break and he was about to go out for lunch at a Diner near by and asked if I wanted to join him. While I did just break up with Nick, and while at this point in my life being sick and all and miserable in general I'm not big on the idea of dating, and it was obvious he was and has been interested in me for a while. I still took him up on the offer, and I have to say I did enjoy myself. I didn't eat anything just had coffee but we had a splendid conversation about video games. To tell the truth I kind of like him. Yes I like geeky guys as opposed to the stupid hyper macho dumb<expletive> guys.

Still while I can tell he likes me. I'm not into the idea of dating right now considering all my health problems, the fact I just broke up with Nick etc... etc... However I wouldn't mind him as a friend. If I don't scare him off with my eccentricities that is. I guess we'll see what happens there. But yeah interesting day.

As for the Force Unleashed. People were right about it, it's fun! First level you play as Darth Vader and kill wookies. And any game that allows me to force grab a Stormtrooper, one of my own guys I might add, and use him to repeatedly bludgeon a wookie to death is right up my alley! XD Yes I'm that evil! (:D I used one of my own guys to bludgeon another guy. I only played the first level so far, but I had so much fun with it that I can tell I'm going to like this game, if not for the simple fact I can use allied NPC's as weapons to bludgeon enemy NPC's with.

So anyway I think I may be playing more of this game. The use of the force in it is REALLY fun! In the first level alone I got to hurl rocks at wookies, I got to hurl trees at wookies, I got to hurl stormtroopers at wookies, I got to hurl wookies at wookies, and I got to just hurl wookies off cliffs, and so forth! Also I got to use my force power to just smash stuff up in a grandiose display of awesomeness. Though there is the possibility that the evil sadistic novelty of using one NPC to bludgeon another NPC to death may wear off after a while. I guess we'll see.

Yeah unfortunately he's not all that hot... Where as Nick was a geek and hot at the same time. It's entirely possible to get both, grant you Nick was also bi, and queer guys are known to be hotties, unless they're bears. Nothing personal against bears mind you, it's just in terms of physical attraction on my end they're not my cup of tea. Anyway as I mentioned Nick came down with a case of dumb that kind wrecked things. I think the deal with Nick was he got all dumb when I started talking about the possibility of settling down in the near future. The possibility mind you, the near future mind you, not right this second. Plus I wasn't like holding a gun to his head, it was something we could have discussed, but no he goes and breaks our arrangement, which he for the most part came up with in the first place! *facepalm* We were still polyamorous within the boundaries we laid out when we were first got involved. The big thing with that arrangement was honesty, and trust. I mean what a MORON he had it so good with me! Even now he still wants me back too, but grr I'm too filled with rage to even talk to him. I was in the hospital and almost died! effing idiot! Okay y'see this is why the idea of dating is unappealing right now. I'm still irked about the Nick thing. Well that and I'm in pain, really sick, walking with a cane, etc.. etc...

Still the Gamestop guy huh? Yeah that was interesting. Then again it probably wouldn't work because I bet he's vanilla, and I tend to freak many vanilla folks out when they get to know me better. Most people I date I meet in a non-vanilla settings and so forth. Though I have been in a really good vanilla relationship before. One of my ex-girlfriends was as vanilla as it gets, I mean while we broke up and all, it was mostly due to circumstances out of our control I won't go into. Nowadays we're more like sisters if anything else.

More game related I've been playing this all morning and GOD The Force Unleashed is FUN! On the first level alone... well the first level as playing a Darth Vader's secret apprentice, since you play Darth Vader in the first level. Anyway you can basically clear a room by throwing Tai er Tie er Thai have no idea how to spell it but tie fighters at all the ground units firing at you. The powers you get are just ridiculous! I personally love grabbing people, even multiple people and doing evil sadistic things. I must be playing very evil because I got an achievement called "Bully."

So far I actually like this more than Prototype. It's keeping me immersed, and while it's not open world it does have a neat leveling system, and you can repeat levels which is fun when you get more powerful because you can pretty much just torture everyone you come across! XD You get three areas to dump experience in, and the game nicely enough gives you one point for each whenever you level up so you don't have to decide where to put your points. Though if I did have to decide it would definitely be the force powers. As the title indicates the force powers are insane, I mean loony tunes INSANE in this game. And lots of fun too boot. I've only played the first 3 levels err first two maybe because I don't know if the Darth Vader level counts as a level or just the introduction. Nevertheless I'm kind of grinding and having a lot of fun while doing it too.

Another thing I like is in this game you do start off playing a bad guy, but of course it being a Starwars game you get a choice to join the Jedi. Apparently if you do you get the cannon ending that links the films together. Since I never cared much for Starwars, especially the newer movies I really don't care about how this game ties the prequel into the trilogy. The thing I like here is I get a choice to be evil if I so desire, and I am so totally being evil because it's really fun! While moral choice in games often is a dumb idea in most games I think games of this nature need it. Take Prototype for example. You play an effing monster for god's sake, yet you're depicted as some poor misunderstood soul. BS! You eat people like snacks! In that game you should be beyond evil and just monstrous, but at the very least it would be nice if they let me choose to be evil as opposed to following their immersion killing godawful storyline.

There's a game on the PS3 unfortunately an exclusive called Infamous, which from what I understand is really similar to Prototype only more comic book style. Also in Infamous you get to choose whether to be good or evil. While moral choices in video games are often one dimensional rubbish. In a game of this nature I do at the very least like being able to choose whether or not I want to be a Captain Planet villain.

So yeah so far great game, better than I ever thought. I really should have got it when it came out, but again I'm not a big Starwars fan and really didn't feel like spending $60.00 on a game that I thought would be meh. I was mistaken, but it worked out for the best because I got it for $20.00 used with store credit alone. I also have a hook up at Gamestop now that who knows maybe I can coax him into discounts or something? Nah he's a nice guy.

Anyway remind to review this game and Ghostbusters because Ghostbusters was great fun for me, and this game so far so good.
