Dragon Age 2 release date

In a press conference preceding the GamesCom 2010 show in Cologne, Electronic Arts and Bioware have announced a release date for Dragon Age 2.

Dragon Age 2 will hit shelves on March 8 in North America and March 11 in Europe. The release date is apparently going to be consistent across all platforms.

Dragon Age 2 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the game will feature a tweaked art style and new combat system that should be friendlier for console controllers.

It will move the story on rapidly from the previous game, taking players into new areas and introducing an entirely new main character as it follows the rise of Hawke, a survivor of the Blight and a hero who embarks on a journey to change the face of the Dragon Age universe forever.

Bioware also took the time to announce that it is working on a PlayStation 3 version of Mass Effect 2.

I'm quite surprised that the second title is due out so soon. I get the feeling the developers were unhappy with certain facets of the first Dragon Age game and hope to finish where they left off.

Dragon Age Origins was a great game, but it felt a little short, the expansion was very short and it always left me wanting more. Hopefully they will build upon the fantastic gore effects which were used in the initial game. For me this was on of the most entertaining feature of the game.
