Companion X
By drakeelvin
Version 1.2
30-Apr-2012

Readme

Companion X is a multi-companion system with 9 new companions.
(See their pictures on the Images tab, or in the 7Z archive Docs folder.)

New in this version

Fix upgraded versions of ED-E to respond to team orders. New ESM works with existing games.

Main Features

9 New Companions
Companion Wheels
Individual Perks
Automatic Self-Healing
Tailored Dialogue and Backstory
PIP-Boy Map Locators -- See your Quest Log
Team Orders

Installation

All plugins require New Vegas 1.4.
All companions require CompanionX.esm. Some have DLC requirements.

Unzip the Data folder (ESM and ESP files) to your New Vegas data folder.
Enable CompanionX.esm, it is required by all companions.
Enable the companions you want. Choose any or all at once.

Team Orders

All X Companions AND the eight standard New Vegas companions respond to team orders.
Talk to any hired X Companion to issue a team order.
Only hired/available companions will respond.

With the eight standard New Vegas companions you can still only have one of each type. You can use an unlimited companion mod, it should not conflict.

The Companions

Amigo and Amiga
They have returned from my previous mod, Amigo Cafe, and are better than ever.
They are the mod testing and demonstration team. And they kick ass in their own right. Find them in the Vault 21 Gift shop.
Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, CompanionX.esm

Lynn (Dead Money)

The younger sister of the Atomic Wrangler Crier from Freeside. She may be the luckiest adventurer alive with the story and loot to back the claim. Find her in the Sierra Madre Police Station.
(If you are well advanced in or finished Dead Money, find her in Freeside.
Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, DeadMoney.esm CompanionX.esm

Kayenta (Honest Hearts)

The Navajo huntress returns in her newest, best incarnation! Now she hunts, she cooks, she can build a campfire, and she gives cooking lessons! Find her in the Dead Horses encampment, Zion Canyon.
Warning: She is a friend to the Sorrows and Dead Horses and will leave if you are hostile to them. Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, HonestHearts.esm, CompanionX.esm

Nevada (Lonesome Road, Player Level 25+)

A former Desert Ranger with a murky past comes to the aid of Courier Six. Now an aging gunslinger, Nevada is based on one of my longest standing test character builds. He's handsome as hell. Find him at the Canyon Wreckage, just beyond the Sunset Drive-In.
Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, LonesomeRoad.esm, CompanionX.esm, Player Level 25+

Layla

The endearing leader of the Ex-NCR turned deserters at the Vikki and Vance Casino, Primm. She's lost her three friends and is caught between bounty hunters and deathclaws. To activate this companion, you must resolve your first meeting in Primm peacefully. See ( http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Layla ) for details on meeting her in Primm.
Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, CompanionX.esm

Bella Tricks (Player Level 7+)

Bella was the original Road Rascal, the leader of the now disbanded mercenary group from California. Her endorsement deal with Guns and Bullets ended in a hail of gunfire over a disagreement about a Naughty Nighwear edition. Now with her former employers dead or in hiding she's come to the Mojave looking for real work. Find her at Mojave Outpost.
Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, CompanionX.esm, Player Level 7+

Doctor Paris (Honest Hearts, Old World Blues)

Paris is what every red blooded American boy wants. Formerly the field surgeon for the Road Rascals mercenary group, she's up for hire. In addition to being a companion and fighter she offers the full range of medical services. Find her outside the Dino Delight Motel and Poseidon Gas Station, Novac.
Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, HonestHearts.esm, OldWorldBlues.esm, CompanionX.esm

Alice

Another former Road Rascal in search of fame and mostly fortune, she brings locksmithing skills with her. Find Alice inside the Prospector Saloon. (She appears after Sunny Smiles' tutorial is finished.)
Requirements: FalloutNV.esm, CompanionX.esm

History

2012.04.17 Original version with 8 X Companions.

2012.04.25 Add X Companion Alice to Goodsprings.
2012.04.25 Fix a bug in all companions where auto-waiting sometimes sent them home.

2012.04.30 Fix upgraded versions of ED-E to respond to team orders. New ESM works with existing games.

Notes

Permission granted to add, modify and upload your own companions based on these. The CompanionX.esp is included in the Docs folder for modders.
Modders read the GUIDE to get an idea of how to go about making new companions.

I made extensive use of my other mod, "Go To The Lucky 38 Suite," when building this. Sometimes it's cool to be able to send your entire team the the Suite then go get them later with one command. And remember, the standard eight New Vegas companions also respond to X Companion team orders, if appropriate.

Lastly, remember there are pictures of all the new companions on the Images tab, and in the 7Z archive Docs folder.

Peace,
drakeelvin [at] yahoo [dot] com

This mod was loose ends based on a work I did building a companion team management mod. All the core functionality and introductory dialogues got done. But I never finished the larger stories or quests. And only 8 of the planned 15 or so companions got done. My last kick at the New Vegas modding can. Hope you enjoy some of these gals and guys, they rock.
