Codemasters, 'Black' co-creator working on new action game
by Martian » February 16th, 2010, 11:23 pm
Codemasters, the publisher behind racing game DiRT and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, says they are working on a new first-person shooter with the co-creator of the Electronic Arts game Black.
The project will be under the development of Codemasters' new internal studio in Guildford, U.K.
The first-person shooter is being headed by Stuart Black, the co-creator and designer of 2006's Black for the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. That title was developed by Criterion Games, best known for the racing series Burnout. The game will also use the same Codemasters technology found in previous releases DiRT, GRID and Operation Flashpoint.
If the shooter is anything like Black, prepare to experience a very explosive and visually appealing action game. However, it was a relatively shallow experience. The campaign was pretty short, and it lacked any multiplayer component.

Has anyone played Black? Should this new game be one to look out for?

No I have not played Black or Operation Flashpoint 2. I have however played Operation Flashpoint and thought it was an immensily good game.
I think Codemasters do produce some good games. From watching some videos on YouTube Dragon Rising looks like its awesome.
I for one will be keeping an eye out for this new game, whatever its name might be...

I just read this on video game news.
Codemasters has wiped it hands clean of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, saying there are no plans to release further content. That's your lot.
Speaking on the DR forums, community manager Ian Webster explained, "With the upcoming release of the Overwatch DLC on PS3, and a few 'heated' threads on the topic, I just wanted to inform you all that the team have now completed the 'Dragon Rising' chapter of Operation Flashpoint and that's it for DR-related content going forward.
"We are sorry if Dragon Rising and the two DLCs released to date have left you wanting even more, but in the grand scheme of future plans and schedules the vast majority of the team are already busy planning the future of modern combat.
"We're aware that this news might disappoint some of you, but I kindly ask that you all please keep any future posts on this topic mature and constructive."
No more Flashpoint!!!
