Beginners tutorial for creating armor, clothing for Oblivion
by Dark Lilith » Mon Feb 09, 2009 2:44 am
this tutorial will allow you to edit, add and delete armor and clothing pieces and combine same without Blender or 3d max knowledge. This is a beginners "Get your feet wet" tutorial.
Adding clothing and armors pieces to make new ones
Open a mesh in NifSkope
Open a second Mesh if NifSkope keeping the first mesh open also.
Remove unwanted items from first mesh, just right click on the part you don’t want, then go to block, click remove branch
Now, left click on the item that you want to move from mesh 2 to mesh 1
At the left, you’ll see a Nitri shape highlighted in blue
Right click on the highlighted wording, then go to block, select, copy branch.
Now go to mesh 1, look at top of column with listings for the mesh. You should see a zero, followed by Main Ninode, followed by “scene root”
Right click on “main Ninode, select block, paste branch.
Item should appear properly located in mesh 1 with no errors.
These steps are very important!!!!!!!
Click spells, optimize, remove bogus nodes
Click spells, optimize, strippify all TriShapes
Click spells, move to batch, Update tangent spaces, and save.

I'm going to stick this topic due to the important info to people who are beginning to learn how to mesh. Thanks for the info BW!
Typical video game translations:
¡Te quiero ver... con una bala en tu cabeza!
Je veux te voir... avec une balle dans ta tête!
I want to see you… with a bullet in your head!
(~I was bored and made this~)

Oh my god.. I wish I knew about this sooner. I've been getting frustrated trying to save properly in Blender when this is 20x more easier. Thank you
I have one question--where do I 'update tangent spaces'?
Edit: One more.. I edited an armor by adding a new body type in place of the original body type. I resized and moved around the outer parts of the armor and whatnot.. saved it and tried it out in the game. Now the armor displays fine when in the inventory window, but in-game nothing shows up except a different body texture. What did I miss?
Edit: Figured it out, just had to 'Apply'
