What is this AWLS about

This mod has 3 functions:
-Acting as a simple meshes replacer for all the construction with windows in Oblivion and offering a lit version of the windows (no plugin needed).
-Allowing to lit and Unlit the windows depending on the plugin you are using (OBSE Required).
-Adding Smoke to every chimney if you are using the optional chimney replacer meshes.

Working on Better Cities, it has always bothered me that we couldn't have a proper way to have lights on the windows due to the fact that the Illumination Within mods were dependent on the location of the buildings. So this Texian's Window Lighting System was the solution we are all looking for except that it was a bit old and didn't use last meshes from the Unofficial Oblivion Patch nor the new structures introduced or re-textured by Blood and Mud. The first step of the development of AWLS was only a simple actualization of TWLS.

XMarksTheSpot and I then extended the concept of Texian's Window Lighting System to Illumination Within animation, the principle being to give the meshes 2 states: Lit and Unlit. Once this was done we used a quest to allow day and night cycle to toggle on and off the windows. A tool was developed by XMarksTheSpot to allow the animation of all the windows on any meshes (though it seems there is an issue with animating interior meshes, if you happen to try that, for unknown reasons).

As a replacer of all the meshes, this mod allow you to have all the windows around Cyrodiil to react to day and night without having to place anything in the world.

When used with the esp to control the windows, it offers animation in nearly the same way Illumination Within does (except for the shutters).

We, of course, applied this technique to UOP meshes but also QTP3, Blood & Mud (and its QTP3 Patch) and Kvatch Rebuilt meshes so that we cover nearly all the versions of the meshes you can find. More Textures options were also developed for your lit windows until the ultimate Brumbek Pack offering different colors but also Curtains if you choose to have them.

The last extension was the addition of smoke to the meshes of every houses with a Chimney in the game. (There is no tool for this part as it has been done manually on every meshes I found having a Chimney). The Chimneys are also scripted and controlled by script like the windows or just permanently on if you don't use any plugin like are the windows.

Performances

About the performances, the animation add a whole 1kb to the current meshes so it won't matter much. The Plugins range from Basic (the less intensive) to Advanced (the most intensive) but they have no impact at all on my machine.

The Chimney are adding like 10 to 20kb to the meshes but as they all have been PyFFIed before, their size is still inferior to the vanilla meshes size. Regarding FPS, there seems to have little to no impact at all.

Different Plugins

There are 3 different plugins you can use (with the Advanced as default). Each of these plugins offer different lighting options as follow:
Basic (Less engine Intensive):
Will light up all the windows from 20pm to 7am.
Chimney Pack basic ESP:
Chimney are set on small smoke from 7am to 20pm and on large smoke from 20pm to 7am.

Medium:
Will light up all the windows from one hour before sunset to Sunrise and also,
Will light up all the windows during the day while it's raining.
Chimney Pack Medium ESP:
Chimney smokes are small during the day and large during rain and night.

Advanced:
Will light up most of the windows from one hour before sunset to 1am,
Will leave some windows lit all night long (along with cathedral windows and Inns/Tavern windows) but most of them will be unlit,
Will light up most of the windows at 5am until sunrise,
Will light up most of the windows during the day while it's raining.
Chimney Pack Advanced ESP:
Chimney smoke are set on large during the 6 cold months of the year during the night. They are set on small during the day.
Chimney smoke are set on small during the 6 warmer months of the year during the night (except on the norther part of Tamriel and in mountains where the smoke is still large). There are no smoke during the day, except when it's raining.
A small random factor (25%) allow to have different type of smoke (a large one among smaller ones or a small one when no other chimney are smoking).

2. Get one of the Texture Pack
-copy the Textures folder to your Obliviondata folder, or,
-follow the install procedure from the readme in case of Brumbek Texture pack.

OR create 2 OMODs with the archives (Meshes Pack and Textures Pack of your choice) using OBMM and activate them trusting the script to make your installation simple. (When asked to overwrite a mesh, use CTRL + Click on OK you have reply Yes to All overwrite prompt).

Everyone knows that nothing is perfect but still we try to achieve perfection. *: By "copy" I mean Copy and Paste to you OblivionData folder of course.
**: All meshes have the windows Lighting System, whether they are with Chimney smoke or not. Chimney Only folders just mean that this is the folder when you want also the smoke on the chimney instead of windows animation only. .

2. Get one of the Texture Pack
-copy the Textures folder to your Obliviondata folder, or,
-follow the install procedure from the readme in case of Brumbek Texture pack.

OR create 2 OMODs with the archives (Meshes Pack and Textures Pack of your choice) using OBMM and activate them trusting the script to make your installation simple. (When asked to overwrite a mesh, use CTRL + Click on OK you have reply Yes to All overwrite prompt).
